Games I Like

PlanetSide 2

PlanetSide 2 is a massively multiplayer online FPS game. While it runs horrendously, even on hardware made 10 years after it came out, the game is pretty fun. You play as a soldier in one of three factions: the Terran Republic, the New Conglomerate, and the Vanu Sovereignty. Your goal is to capture as much territory as possible and defend what you have. I enjoyed the game before alerts were a thing, but at certain times an alert will start where you must hold as much territory as possible before a timer ends. The winning team gets extra certs (like credits) that they can spend on guns, vehicles, and abilities. It and its predecessor are the only two MMOFPS games I can think of, and both are a lot of fun. In no other game do you build an FPS character over time.

Team Fortress Classic

Coming from Team Fortress 2 first, I absolutely love this game. I got it in Christmas 2020 to escape the bots and hackers on TF2 and I don't regret it at all. The game's community is much smaller but very active. This game remains playable 20 years later. It's much more fast-paced than TF2 and feels more balanced. My favorite class is probably the Pyro, because he's probably the most versatile medium class and actually takes skill here. I really don't see why we can't get a remaster of this game (I'm aware of Fortress Forever). If I could change anything, it would probably be making the Medic more of, well, a Medic. He's like a stronger scout in this game.

Pikmin 2

Pikmin 1 was one of the first games I ever played, and it's also my mom's favorite. When Pikmin 2 came out, she got it and I have many more fond memories with this one. It takes the mechanics of the first game and extends it tenfold, with the introduction of procedurally generated dungeons. That's pretty wild for a Gamecube game. Every single time I decide to pick up this game it's a different experience since the caves (dungeons) are never the same. The story is great, all of the treasures you find have interesting or hilarious names, and the OST is amazing by itself. There's a bunch of great ROM hacks of this game as well by other avid fans of this title that expand the dungeon mechanic since we didn't get blessed with it ever again in succeeding games. All of the Pikmin games are great, but this one is my favorite by a long shot.
